Gayville Hall kicks off a new show Saturday night at 8 p.m. reflecting Gayville's notoriety as the "Hay Capital of the World."
"The Hay Country Jamboree" will celebrate old-time country music and song with special guest stars Bob Bovee and Gail Heil of Spring Grove, MN., virturoso banjo player (and Wakonda native) Daniel Kilbride of Sioux Falls, and Gayville Hall musical hosts John and Susan McNeill.
Bovee and Heil play American traditional music with a faithfulness to the vocal and instrumental styles typical of vintage country recordings from the 1920s and '30s and with great humor. Bovee sings and yodels and plays guitar, harmonica, banjo and autoharp. Heil sings and plays fiddle, banjo, and autoharp. They appeared at Gayville Hall in 2002 and have toured extensively across the country.
Gayville Hall is located at 502 Washington Street in Gayville. Tickets are $10 at the door, or $12.50 reserved. Call 605-267-2859.
