Their first game was against Tri-Valley, where they came away victorious, 7-6. Lizzie Bye was 2-2 at the plate with two runs scored and one RBI, while picking up the win with five strikeouts and one walk. Beth Szymonski was 1-1 with one run scored. Claire Jones and Lindsay Robinet had one hit each.
The second game on Saturday was against Mitchell Gold. Mitchell took the lead 8-6 in the last inning with the Tanagers yet to bat. Ellen Brown and Jones led off the inning with back-to-back walks. After two pop-ups to the infield, the Tanagers were down to their last out. Robinet drove a ball into right-center field to score both runs and advanced to second on the throw home.
Sami Girard then smacked a line drive into right-center to score Robinet for the winning run. Robinet ended up 3-3 with three runs scored and four RBIs. Girard was 2-3 with one run scored and two RBI. Carlee Sorensen also had an RBI. Bye picked up the win with three strikeouts.
The third game on Saturday was a heart-breaker as Vermillion fell to West Central 2-1. Bye took the loss and had two of the three Tanager hits. She struck out four while walking just one and allowed just three hits. At the conclusion of the day, Vermillion was one of six teams left.
Bye threw a no-hitter against Canton on Sunday and picked up the win 6-0. Beth Szymonski was 2-3 with a run scored and an RBI. Sorensen was 1-1 with one run scored. Ema Tracy was 1-2 with an RBI.
