JV volleyball team update

During the week of Sept. 17, the Tanager junior varsity volleyball team played a match vs. Wagner with the result a 1-2 loss, 25-23, 23-25, 14-16.

Abbreviation Key – A: ace, B: block, D: dig, K: kill, SA: set assist.

JV player statistical results: Justine Sorensen – 2 K, 1 B, 5 D, 1 A; Sierra Allen – 4 K, 3 B; Ashley Ouellette – 2 K, 3 B, 2 A; Michelle Nlythe – 2 K, 6 D; Sara Kjose – 7 SA, 10 D, 6 A; Brianna Brinkman – 17 D; and Molly LeCates – 3 SA, 9 D, 2 A.

Then after a month layoff, on Oct. 20 they entered the EP/J Junior Varsity Invitational with Vermillion defeating Sioux City Heelan, and winning 2-1 scoring 25-27, 25-23 and 25-22. Coach Jamie Baedke said, "A great match! We knocked off the defending champs as we played our game."

Next, the JV Tanagers lost the EP/J match 0-2 (16-25, 19-25). "We lost our focus and communication," said the coach.

The third match also went two games (25-20, 25-21) for a Tanager victory.

"We really played together as a team as we beat Sioux City East to finish third in the tournament," said coach Baedke.
