Tanager volleyball team loses in South Sioux City
On Thursday, Aug. 30, Vermillion suffered a humiliating night of losses by all three teams – freshmen, junior varsity, and varsity ��at the South Sioux City Cardinal "mini dome." Varsity score: 0-3 (14-25, 118-25 and 16-25.)

Tanager varsity player statistics: Hannah Korkuska – nine set assists, one dig, one ace; Alicia Brown – four kills, 12 digs; Tania Faria – one kill, 12 set assists.

Coach Lenni Billberg had a short evaluation: "We lacked a team effort; SSC was a very talented team!"

The JV team lost 0-2, scoring 14-25 and 14-25.

Assistant coach Jamie Baedke remarked: "We had a tough start to the season, but look forward to a promising year."

Statistics: Justine Soren-sen – two kills, two assists; Michelle Blythe – two kills, two aces; Sierra Allen – two kills, two assists; Brianna Brinkman – 11 digs; Ashley Ouellette – 10 digs.

The freshman team lost 0-2, scoring 8-25 and 11-25.

Assistant coach Chris Doty said: "The girls had some first-game jitters to work through. Everyone gave a great effort and we look forward to a fun season."

Alexa Thomson – one kill, one dig; Tatum Zimiga – three digs, one ace; Jana Bye, Carlee Sorensen and Shelby Covill – one dig each; Kenzie Huska – one set assist.
