The Coyotes dropped to 7-8-2 overall and 4-6 in NCC play. UNO improved its overall record to 9-5 and 7-2 in league play.
On a cool and windy afternoon, the Coyotes scored first when Katie Freeman (Sr., Urbandale, IA) scored at the 3:38 mark off an assist from Carla Neppl (Sr., Omaha, NE). Freeman scored her third goal of the season. UNO struggled to find its offense in the opening half, but tied the match when Casey Bigsby scored an unassisted goal at the 43:46 mark.
Both defenses put up a solid second half stand. It was not until the 82:49 mark, when Mykala Hanson scored off an assist from Kellyn Kramolisch, that UNO finally broke through for the game-winning goal.
The Mavericks held the upper hand in shots by an 11-8 advantage, including 7-4 in the opening half. Both teams attempted four shots in the second half. UNO also had a 6-0 edge in corner kicks.
Coyote goalie Ann Opsahl (Jr., Yankton) allowed two goals and recorded four saves in 90 minutes of work in the net. UNO goalie Ellen Peterson allowed one goal and recorded two saves.
The Coyote offense was paced by junior Sarah Halbach (St. Paul, MN) who had four shots, including one on goal. Freeman had two shots with both on-goal.
