Junior Angela O'Loughlin scored two goals, including the match-winning shot in overtime, to lift The University of South Dakota women's soccer team (4-2-2, 1-0 NCC) to a 2-1 decision over Augustana in North Central Conference action at Yankton Trails Park in Sioux Falls on Friday.
After a scoreless first half, O'Loughlin of Broomfield, CO, put South Dakota ahead 1-0 with an unassisted goal at the 50:18 mark of the second half. At the 61:10 mark, Augustana's Katie Shandri scored off an assist from Bre Olson to tie the match at 1-1. In overtime, O'Loughlin ended the contest with her game-winning goal at the 99:43 mark. O'Loughlin, who had four shots on-goal, now has scored four goals in eight games this season.
USD goal keeper Ann Opsahl (Yankton), who has allowed just 1.17 goals per match this season, had another solid match on Friday afternoon. She recorded six saves and allowed just one goal in 99:43 minutes of work. The Coyotes outshot Augustana, 16-14, including 9-4 in the first half. Augustana held a 9-6 shots advantage in the second half and both teams had one shot in overtime.
