VHS softball team goes 1-1 vs. Canton
The Vermillion Tanagers' softball team met the Canton C-Hawks at the USD softball complex in Vermillion on Sunday, Sept.16 in a double header competition. Vermillion won the first game 12-0; the C-Hawks followedwith a 6-4 victory in the second game.

In the first game, Jenny Bye pitched a one hitter, striking out seven batters in three innings. The game was called by rule.

Kayla Munger led the offensive attack going 3 for 3. Aliciia Brown and Molly LeCates were each 2 for 2 and Katie Kashas hit a triple driving in two runs.

"The girls played a great game, hitting and bunting very well," said Coach Lori Jerred.

In the second game, Brianna Brinkman pitched the first three innings, striking out batters. Jenny Bye struck out six batters in three innings. Erica Johnson was 1 for 2; Jenny Bye was 1 for 2 with a triple; and Brinkman and Munger each went 1 for 3.

"The girls made a few mental mistakes in the second game and struggled to get their bats going," coach Jerred said.

The Tanagers will be in action again on Sunday, Sept. 23 at West Central.
