The DearReader.com Book Club offers many selections to Internet patrons. Each book runs for five days, Monday through Friday. Some genres offer selections every other week. Upcoming Events and Activities
The Middle School Book Club will be meeting for the first time to organize a club on Nov. 7 from 6:30-7 p.m. at the library. Middle-school-aged students are invited to attend, help choose our first selection, and plan for future meetings. Snacks will be provided.
On Nov. 13 the library is hosting Children's Book Week Craft Day from 3:45-5 p.m. in the Community Room. Kids from preschool through the fifth grade may attend. Snacks are provided.
Also, during Children's Book Week, storyteller Margaret Miller will be reading to the students on Wednesday, Nov. 14 starting at 3:45 p.m., after school. A carnival is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 15, starting at 3:45 p.m. to help celebrate the week.
Author Marjorie Klemme Flados will be visiting the library on Nov. 14 to sign her recently published book, The Road from Spink. She will also read selections from her book. This novel is an account of growing up Norwegian and Lutheran in the Midwest and a study of family life during the Great Depression. Copies of her book will be available for sale at the library.
The Adult Book Club is scheduled for Nov. 15, from 6-8 p.m. in the Community Room of the library. November's selection for discussion is the novel Water for Elephants, by Sara Gruen. This novel tells in flashback the story of a 90-year-old man as he recounts the days spent traveling with a circus during The Great Depression. Copies of the book will soon be available at the circulation desk.
In observance of the Thanksgiving Holiday, the library will close at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 21 and be closed during Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 22. The library will reopen at its scheduled time of 10 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 23. Materials may be returned to the Book and A/V drops located on the south side of the building.
