Dohn is USD Employee of the Month for November
Tammy Dohn, senior computer support specialist in Information Technology Services (ITS), has been named November 2007 Career Services Employee of the Month at The University of South Dakota.

"It was definitely a surprise, but I'm also very flattered to receive this," admitted Dohn, who accepted the award on behalf of all of her coworkers in ITS who were in attendance for a reception in her honor at Slagle Hall on USD's campus. "Without our team, I wouldn't have been recognized for this honor."

Dohn was nominated for the award by Lisa Nielsen, senior secretary, Student Center, and Genevieve Evans Taylor, Student Center director. Both noted Dohn's work ethic as well as her professionalism and efficiency in solving technology-related issues at the Student Center.

"Tammy is efficient with her work and she takes the time to explain the process or walk through how to use a new piece of equipment," Evans Taylor stated in her nomination of Dohn who also assisted Nielsen when her office ordered new computers for the Student Center.

"She often makes several trips to the Student Center, even though it's across campus and the weather is terrible," added Nielsen. "Tammy always goes above the call of duty and never complains."

A native of Mitchell, Dohn has worked in ITS at USD for close to two years. Prior to joining ITS at USD, she worked in information technology for the State of South Dakota in both Mitchell and Hot Springs for more than six years.

"When a call ticket comes in, we rely on each other to get the job done," she described. "It's not uncommon if one of us is having a problem with an issue we can't fix because we can easily ask each other for help. That's what's great about this job. It's never the same thing every day."

A graduate of the Mitchell Technical Institute, Dohn and her husband, Bo, presently reside in Vermillion with their three children.
