The Counseling Department at Vermillion High School will sponsor a financial aid information night for senior parents in the VHS library from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 3. This meeting will help parents understand and complete the process of applying for federal dollars to help finance their children's post-secondary education in college or technical school.
Julie Pier, director of financial aid at The University of South Dakota, will be on hand to address parents' questions and walk them through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Because both federal loans and federal grants require the FAFSA, all seniors who plan to enter a college or technical institute in the fall of 2008 should submit the FAFSA as soon as possible after Jan. 1, 2008.
