The Vermillion Literary Project will host a poetry reading and poetry slam on Thursday, Nov. 29 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Coffee Shop Gallery in downtown Vermillion. The poetry reading will feature Michelle Rogge Gannon, director of the Dakota Writing Project and a USD English instructor.
Rogge Gannon has served as faculty adviser for the Vermillion Literary Project since 1994 and has overseen several annual projects through the Dakota Writing Project, which is a nonprofit teacher's organization affiliated with the National Writing Project. In addition, Rogge Gannon is an author of fiction and poetry. Her reading will be followed by a poetry slam, which is open to anyone. Poets planning to slam should bring three poems.
