The South Dakota Highway Patrol has scheduled sobriety checkpoints for the month of December in the following counties: Bennett, Brookings, Brown, Charles Mix, Clark, Clay, Codington, Custer, Davison, Day, Fall River, Faulk, Lawrence, Lincoln, McCook, Meade, Mellette, Minnehaha, Pennington, Sanborn, Tripp, Union, Walworth, and Yankton.
In addition to detecting alcohol or drug impaired drivers, the Highway Patrol uses sobriety checkpoints to remind the public of the dangers of drinking and driving.
