USD professors, Beresford schools honored

Two professors from The University of South Dakota and the Beresford School District were honored recently by the School Administrators of South Dakota with the Little Red School House Award for Operation Coyote, a partnership between the USD Teacher Education Program and the Beresford School District.

Tim Duggan, Ed.D., assistant professor at the USD School of Education, and Susan Gapp, Ed.D., assistant professor for curriculum and instruction at USD, were presented the award along with Mike Limmer, Beresford Middle School principal who is also a doctoral student in the School of Education at USD, for placing USD students in classrooms teaching lessons planned by Beresford teachers on days when the faculty is working on curriculum development.� Close to 100 teacher education students from USD have participated in Operation Coyote since it began in 2005.

"The USD School of Education is honored to develop partnerships with school districts that mutually benefit the schools and our students, who are entering the teaching profession," Duggan said.

The Little Red School House Award is presented to a South Dakota school district that is selected for implementing the most significant, innovative and successful education program or project.
