For the first time in her career, Jenna Hoffman of The University of South Dakota women's basketball team has been named the North Central Conference Women's Player of the Week, according to an announcement on Monday by the league office.
Hoffman, who shared the award with Heather Johnson of Minnesota State, averaged 15.5 points and 7.0 rebounds per game to lead the Coyotes to two wins this past weekend. Hoffman (Sr., Mitchell) also averaged 4.0 assists, 3.0 steals and 1.0 blocked shots during the weekend action in which USD, ranked 22nd in NCAA Division II, improved to 10-1 on the season.
In wins against Southwest Minnesota State and Mount Mercy College, Hoffman hit 68.8 percent of her shots from the field on 11-of-16 shooting and made all eight of her free throws.
Hoffman set a career high with 26 points while also grabbing 11 rebounds for her third career double-double in a 75-65 win over Southwest Minnesota State. In just 17 minutes of action, she scored five points and had four steals, five assists and three rebounds in an 83-38 win over Mount Mercy.
