VHS oral interpretation team brings home the hardware

Vermillion High School's oral interpretation team, coached by Marv Begley, proved successful at the South Dakota High School Activity Association's State Oral Interpretation Festival on Nov. 31 through Dec. 2. To get to State, the competitors must first make it to Regions and then through Regions to State.

Freshman Doug Kronaizl advanced to State and received two superior awards in Duet and Reader's Theatre. Sophomores Julie Renner and Sam Miller advanced to the State level. Miller received three supe-

rior awards in the categories of Humor, Duet and Reader's Theatre.

Junior Sam Lundquist advanced to the regional level while seniors Dru Daniels, Liz Moyer and Jessa Waters all advanced to State. Daniels received a superior in Reader's Theatre, Moyer in Serious Prose and Waters in Serious Plays.

Along with these successes came two team trophies. VHS took the sweepstakes trophy at Regions along with a team excellence trophy at the State level.
