Area high school pianists to give recital

Three area high school pianists – April Sun of Vermillion and Xiaoyi Li and Jason Bartos of Yankton – will present a joint recital on Sunday, Jan. 13 at 3 p.m. in Colton Recital Hall of the Warren M. Lee Center for the Fine Arts at The University of South Dakota. The recital is free and open to the public.

Sun and Li are students of Dr. Susan Keith Gray. Bartos is a student of Dr. Susanne Skyrm. Both teachers are on the faculty of The University of South Dakota Department of Music.

Xiaoyi Li is a senior at Yankton High School. She attended Vermillion Middle School, prior to the family's move to Yankton. She is the daughter of Susan and Li Li. She will perform works by Bach, Beethoven and Debussy.

Jason Bartos lives in Yankton and is the son of Dan and Estelle Bartos. He is home-schooled and is in 10th grade. He will perform works by Liszt and Ginastera.

April Sun is a junior at Vermillion High School. She is the daughter of Ning and Yongchen Sun of Vermillion. She will perform works by Bach, Beethoven, Liszt, Ravel and Rachmaninoff in preparation for the West Central Divisional Competition in Ames, IA, sponsored the Music Teachers National Association.
