Big Friend-Little Friend, Inc. of Clay and Union counties matches youth ages 5-17 with qualified and screened adults, and both adults and children enjoy their time together.
Mentors spend two hours/week with their little friend, and there are a number of activities the matches can do together.
January is National Mentors Month, and right now BF-LF has 18 youth waiting to hear that they have a new friend. There are six boys and five girls in Vermillion, a boy in North Sioux City, a boy and a girl in Elk Point, and a boy in Hawarden, IA, with other applications on the way. A caring attitude and good morals are all you need to be a great mentor.
The program's Web site is www.bflfmentoring.org and volunteers can click on the Volunteer button to obtain an application. For more information, please contact John Gille, program director, at (605) 356-2571 or email him at email@example.com.
