Seven class "A" schools and one class "AA" school (Pierre) competed in the third annual Hula Lua triangular meet. The Tanager gymnasts placed secound in the eight-team competition held in the SCHS gym Saturday, Jan. 5.
Final standings: First – Pierre, 128; second – Vermillion, 121.85; third Stanley County, 120.1; fourth – Wagner, 119.9; fifth – Hot Springs, 118.35; sixth – Chamberlain, 118.05; seventh – Kadoka, 108.3; eight – Wall, 107.25.

I'm very pleased with our performance in each event," said Coach Upward. "We had to count three falls on beam, but I'm still pleased with how we presented ourselves up there."
"We didn't have Tia on floor because of her ankle, which probably cost us 2-3 points. So I am very excited that we could still finish in second place behind a AA school."
Each gymnast was given a Hawaiian lei to set the Hawaiian theme for the day. The gym was decorated with palm trees and tropical flowers.
