Tanagers make history

Tanagers make history

People who gathered in the Vermillion High School gymnasium Tuesday night saw more than exciting basketball action on the part of both the girls' and boys' Tanager basketball teams. They witnessed history in the making. During the first varsity match-up with the Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies, Vermillion's Alicia Brown became only the fourth Tanager to reach a career milestone of scoring 1,000 points. Alicia is pictured with her grandmother, Betty Hansen, and her mother, Leanne Brown. Later that night, with only 10 seconds left in the Tanager boys' varsity game with the Huskies, Jordan Boots also scored his 1,000th point – a basket that help secure Vermillion's 56-55 victory. Jordan is the son of Peggy and Dave Boots of Vermillion.
