"I felt our kids played hard defensively," said VHS coach Jason Huska. "We did some good things offensively as well. We had some chances down the stretch, but just came up short. I was very pleased with our effort."
Both teams were sharp from three-point range, with the Tanagers 7 of 13 and the Trojans 5 of 10.
The Tanagers trailed 16-14 after the first quarter, trailed 30-28 at halftime, and the score was knotted 45-45 going into the final period.
The loss dropped VHS to a record of 3-3, while West Central improved to 6-0.
VHS sank 6 of 11 free throw attempts. The Tanagers connected on 20 of 46 field goal attempts, while West Central was 27 of 44 from the field. The Trojans hit 7 of 17 from the line.
