Vermillion JV rallies to win

The Vermillion Tanagers rallied in the second half and then pulled away to down the Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies 36-26 in basketball Jan. 15 at home in a win keyed by a 16-0 third-quarter run.

VHS had trailed by 5 at halftime.

"Another great defensive battle for the Lady Tanagers," said VHS coach Lori Jerred. "Full court run and jump man pressure was the key to our success tonight. The Tanagers had well balanced attack with seven players scoring."

The Tanagers fell behind 12-5 at the end of the first period, trailed 18-13 at halftime, and then led 29-18 after the third quarter.

VHS made 1 of 2 three-point tries and sank 3 of 7 from the line. The Tanagers made 15 of 30 field goals, while EPJ was 11 of 27 from the field. EPJ hit 0 of 1 three-point attempts and made 4 of 9 from the line.
