VHS JV second half too much for Bulldogs
The Vermillion Tanagers pulled away in the second half to beat the Madison Bulldogs 49-39 in junior varsity girls' basketball Jan. 8 at Madison.

The score was tied 16-16 at halftime.

VHS now stands at 4-1. The Madison season mark fell to 1-5.


"We played a very good game after our team suffered their first loss the night before to Lennox," said VHS coach Lori Jerred.

The Tanagers forced 21 Madison turnovers to help the victory.

The score was knotted 10-10 after the first quarter, was still knotted 16-16 at halftime, then the Tanagers led 35-30 going into the final period.

Several significant individual efforts contributed to the win.

"Hannah Nehlich-Arobba had an outstanding game scoring 20 of her 22 points the second half," coach Jerred said. "Sophie Nehlich-Arobba played a solid game with five steals and four assists."
