The Tanagers trailed 13-10 after the first quarter, trailed 27-20 at halftime, and the contest was deadlocked 40-40 after the third period. The score was tied at 57 after the first overtime.
The Wolverines tried to keep things close from three-point range, hitting 7 of 13.
"It took us awhile to get going," said VHS Coach Jason Huska. "We didn't turn the ball over as much and rebounded better. We did not shoot that well but kept after it and won a big game for us."
VHS improved its season mark to 6-6, while Sioux City West fell to 2-9.
VHS sank 15 of 25 from the line. The Tanagers connected on 25 of 62 field goals, while Sioux City West was 21 of 42 from the field.
