He was born Feb. 17, 1923 in Kansas City, KS to John W. Taylor and Ruth Davis. He attended Elmwood Country School in 1937. He was a farmer in Clay County. He worked as civil defense director for 30 years. He was a member of the Clay County Weed Board and the Clay County Park Board. He was a member of Bergen Lutheran Church.
He was married to Phyllis Driver on Oct. 1, 1954 in rural Meckling. She died April 17, 1988.
Ben lived in Clay County for 79 years.
He is survived by a sister, Aileen Ross of Payette, ID; and two brothers, Loren (Helen) Taylor of Kansas City, KS and John (Jane) Taylor of Vermillion.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John W. and Ruth (Davis) Taylor; his wife, Phyllis; and a sister, Kathleen Rich.
Services were 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 11, at Bergen Lutheran Church, rural Meckling, with Rev. Ralph Egbert officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, rural Meckling.
Visitation was one hour prior to services Monday at the church.
Iverson-Siecke Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
