If so, the next Certified Nursing Assistant Training Program at the Regional Technical Education Center (RTEC) could help you meet your employment goals.
Offered through a special partnership between RTEC and Avera Education & Staffing Solutions, this 75-hour training program will give you the fundamental skills and knowledge you'll need to get started in a healthcare career.
During the March 2008 CNA course being offered at RTEC, students will complete:
- 16 hours of computer-assisted interactive training
- 24 hours of classroom instruction that will cover basic nurse aid skills, anatomy & physiology, nutrition and infection control through lectures and hands-on practice
- 35 hours of on-site clinical practice at an approved long-term care facility
Computer/classroom instruction will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on March 3, 4, 5, 10 and 11 at RTEC, which is located one block north of the YHS/Summit Activities Center at 1200 W. 21st St. in Yankton.
Students will complete their clinical hours from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on March 13, 14, 17, 18 and 19 as a group at a long-term care facility. Upon successful completion of the 75-hour training program, students will be eligible to take a certification exam. After passing, you'll be on your way to a rewarding career filled with opportunity.
The cost of the RTEC training program is $1,200. A $75 textbook/workbook is also required. Payments can be made to RTEC using Visa and MasterCard. However, CNAs are able to recover their training costs.
According to federal regulation, if CNAs are hired by a long-term care facility within 12 months of earning their certification, that facility must reimburse their training fees.
