Annual literary luncheon is scheduled for April 16
The Friends of the Vermillion Public Library are sponsoring their 20th annual literary luncheon on Wednesday, April 16, at the Vermillion Public Library. Gary Westgard, author of The Journey and the Grace, will read his poems and talk about his newly published book. Lunch will be served beginning at 11:30 a.m. with the program beginning at 12:10 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the library for $9. Last day to purchase a ticket is Sunday, April 13.

Gary Westgard is a retired Lutheran pastor, living in Watertown. He served as pastor in the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America for 35 years and for 14 of those years lived in Vermillion, serving at the Trinity Lutheran Church from 1980-1994.

Pastor Westgard retired in 2004 and in January 2005 began writing poetry. He wrote most every day for two and a half years. His small book of poems entitled The Journey and the Grace was published in June 2007.


Gary is married to Vivian and they have two grown children, Christin and Joshua. Both graduated from Vermillion High School. They also have two grandchildren.
