Date announced for RTEC’s basic welding class

Dates for the next 60-hour Basic Welding class at the Regional Technical Education Center (RTEC) have been announced.

The course, which will run on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5-9 p.m. at RTEC, is slated to begin April 22, 2008, and will last through June 10, 2008.

During the course, students will:

• learn basic metallurgy concepts and welding techniques
• complete coursework in machine setting and metal transfer
• get an introduction to welding symbols and blueprint reading
• and develop the skills necessary to become a trained welder.

  Cost of the training is $895 plus tax. Visa and MasterCard are now accepted and money orders are also welcome. Financial assistance may be available for those who qualify through the Workforce Investment Act program.
