Elaine Lashley was born June 21, 1921 in Vermillion, to Robert and Leone (Spensley) Schumacher.
She spent her maturing years in Elk Point, and graduated from Elk Point High School in 1939.
She then attended and graduated from The University of South Dakota. After that, Elaine attended Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. At Northwestern University, Elaine met her husband, Warren L. Lashley. They were married June 18, 1951, in Vermillion.
After her husband finished his education, he accepted a teaching position at the University of Cincinnati, Cincinnati, OH. The couple made their home there for the rest of their careers. Warren died Sept. 3, 2004.
Elaine was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. She had no brothers, sisters or children. Survivors are her several cousins, the two of whom are Shirley Berry of Mitchell, and Lowell Macy of Vermillion.
Graveside services were at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 4, at BluffView Cemetery under the direction of Iverson-Siecke-Kober Funeral Home, Vermillion.
The committal service was performed by Rev. Brook McBride of the Vermillion United Methodist Church..
