"This was a great way for our team and especially our seniors to finish the regular season with a win," said VHS Coach Jason Huska. "I thought our kids played well both offensively and defensively. The C-Hawks shot the ball well, but our kids stayed with the game plan and didn't panic. Our focus now is tournament time."
The contest was well-played, with the Tanagers committing only five turnovers and the C-Hawks committing only nine.
The Tanagers heated things up from three-point range, hitting 6 of 11 from long distance.
The Tanagers took the lead 24-16 after the first quarter, and margins of 17-9 and 11-10 in the second and third quarters boosted the lead to 52-35 going into the final period.
VHS improved its record to 11-8, while Canton dropped to 1-18.
VHS made 8 of 14 from the line. The Tanagers hit 28 of 41 field goal attempts, while Canton was 17 of 44 from the field. The C-Hawks sank 1 of 7 free throw attempts.
