Bonte leads USD womenâ�?�?s golf team to seventh place finish The University of South Dakota womenâ�?�?s golf team, led by Brooke Bonte, finished seventh in the team standings at the Okoboji Invitational which was held at the Emerald Hills Golf Club in Arnolds Park on Sunday. Bonte (Sr., Beresford) finished tied for 19th in the individual standings with four other competitors. She shot a two-round score of 172 (88-84) and jumped from 25th after the first round to 19th. As a team, the Coyotes shot a 698 (356-342). Rachael Schmidt of Upper Iowa was the individual titlist with a score of 155 (77-78). Results for the other members of the USD team included Amber Luitjens (Sr., Aberdeen), 24th, 173 (88-85); Andrea Peterson (Sr., Austin, MN), 37th, (94-84); Abby Doorn (Fr., Spencer, IA), 37th, 178 (86-92) and Candice Bonrud (So., Burnsville, MN), 54th, (103-89). Also for USD, Stephanie Zavilla (So., Highlands Ranch, CO) finished 53rd with a 188 (90-98) and Erin Wibben (So., Rock Rapids, IA) was 63rd at 225 (112-113). Upper Iowa won the team title with a score of 647 (328-319) which was 18 strokes better than second-place Nebraska-Omaha at 665. The rest of the team standings included Minnesota State, third, 673 (343-330); Truman State, fourth, 675 (343-332); North Dakota, fifth, 677 (348-329); Concordia University, St. Paul, sixth, 688 (347-341); South Dakota, seventh, 698 (356-342); Winona State, eighth, 702 (345-357); Southwest Minnesota State, ninth, 726 (357-369); and St. Cloud State, 10th, 755 (376-379).
