The USD Department of Musicâ�?�?s Truran Scholars present a piano recital at Colton Hall in the Warren M. Lee Center for Fine Arts on Friday, May 2, from 8-9:30 p.m. Truran Scholars are students who have won scholarships from the Department of Music based on their talent. â�?¢ Epsilon Sigma Alpha Convention â�?�? Epsilon Sigma Alpha will be having their 58th annual convention hosted by Alpha Lambda in Vermillion on May 2, 3, and 4 with events taking place at the Holiday Inn Express and the Eagles Club. Attendees from the stateâ�?�?s 12 ESA chapters will be present at the event. Each chapter works hard to fulfill the goals of ESA by contributing service hours and money to charitable causes and local community service projects throughout the year. â�?¢ Vermillion Garden Club Plant Sale â�?�? Purchase plants for your summer garden Sunday, May 3rd, at beginning at 9 a.m. The sale will take place at the 4-H Grounds on High Street. Wild Game Feed & Auction â�?�? Saturday, May 3, beginning at 5:30 p.m., come raise money for the First Baptist Youth Group and compete for the opportunity to win door prizes at the First Baptist Church. The game feed begins at 5:30 p.m. and the auction begins at 6:30 p.m. Admission for ages 7 and up is $6. The Civic Council will celebrate its recent remodeling project through this ribbon cutting ceremony on Tuesday, May 6, 2008, at 1 p.m. Chris Saub Performing Live at SDPB â�?�? Singer/songwriter Chris Saub will perform live before a studio audience for SDPBâ�?�?s â�?�?No Cover, No Minimumâ�? program on Friday, May 9, 2008, from 7:30-9 p.m. Tickets are free but must be reserved in advance at the SDPBâ�?�?s offices or by calling 800-456-0766. â�?¢ USD Spring Commencement â�?�? USDâ�?�?s 121st Spring Commencement will take place on Saturday, May 10, 2008, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the DakotaDome. Pulitzer Prize winner and owner of the Iowa Cubs baseball team Michael Gartner will give the keynote address. Other Tidbits: Special notice to water customers: Between April 16 and May 2, the City Water Department will be flushing the water mains. Please let your tap water run a few seconds before using to clear any sediment. This is important to remember before washing clothes. Big Friend-Little Friend, Inc. Seeks Board Members: BF-LF, Inc. matches youth ages 5-17 in Clay and Union County, and would like to add 2-3 adults and one student to its board. The members meet as needed, and determine program direction, help identify resources, and input on future needs. The 2-3 adults would have a business background, and be able to attend meetings. The USD or Vermillion middle school student would also be willing to provide their ideas and help the program grow.
