Ladies Auxiliary meets March 18

The regular meeting of the Ladies Auxiliary to Clay Post #3061 was held Tuesday evening, March 18 with President Delores Gregg presiding. Roll call of officers was taken and recorded.

Chaplain Opal Smith offered the opening prayer. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. Motion made and seconded to accept the treasurer's report as printed.


Correspondence included General Orders #8, Connies Communique, year end report forms, note from Shirley Christensen regarding poppy displays for spring district meeting, thank you note from Shelley Aakre. Committee reports included funeral report, get well and sympathy cards mailed, bingo at nursing home, hospital equipment on loan, Road to Recovery, hospice, cribbage playing in nursing home, Civic Council and fund raiser for Senior Citizens.

The charter was draped for Jessie Rasmussen who passed away March 15. Delegates and alternates were named for the spring meeting to be held at Alcester on April 27.

Motion made and seconded to pay the invoices. The meeting adjourned to reopen April 15.

Members prepare for convention

Members of the DESA/ELAN organization met on Sunday, March 9 at the Sanford Medical Center board room for their March meeting. Members started the evening off saying the pledge.

The next order of business was to review over old business. Elly Miiller gave a brief summary of what happened at the February meeting. Tanna Miiller thanked Ellen Hanson for presenting a report on the February meeting to the ESA ladies on March 6.

Next new business was discussed. Members shared information about the state of New York. Elly Miiller brought state facts, Kate Brockevelt told the history of the state, Audry Miiller shared pictures of the state map and flag, Ellen Hanson talked about the wildlife and shared information about the bat deaths in New York and Marley Hanson told about tourist attractions.

It was decided to work on the DESA/ELAN scrapbook and put together some kind of favors to give to those in attendance at the ESA State Convention which will be held here in Vermillion, May 2, 3 and 4. Everyone decided to bring toilet paper to the April meeting which will be donated to the Vermillion Food Pantry.

Tanna Miiller welcomed Micci Abbott to the meeting. Tanna also talked about the upcoming ESA State Convention. Marley Hanson volunteered to report the March meeting happenings to the ESA ladies on April 3. Members worked on scrap booking pages of previous meetings. Pictures were taken of members holding donated items they brought tonight which will be given to the Humane Society in Sioux City.

The next meeting will be on Sunday, April 13, at 7 p.m., at the Sanford Medical Center board room.
