‘Earth Speak’ student exhibit featured at W.H. Over Museum

Steve Buechler's bachelor of fine arts graduation exhibition, "Earth Speak," is on exhibit at the W.H. Over Museum on the campus of The University of South Dakota, April 21-25. The show presents a display of work incorporating character creation and art as a visual representation of the Earth's magic over nature.

Buechler, from Center-ville, studied art at USD for five years with an empha- sis in printmaking. When Buechler took a class in costume design, his love of character in art realized. He uses a variety of art techniques to create a message and story about the magic of the world and its embodiment from fantasy into the real world.

Working for the USD theater department costume shop has influenced Buech-ler's take on character. Having designed shows like Of Mice and Men, The Impresario and My Way, Buechler has learned a variety of storytelling methods from creating character presentation to an audience en masse so that each is to be understood.

The exhibition is open to the public Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m.
