Francis was born Jan. 17, 1927, at Gettysburg, to Joy and Fanny (Harvey) Hansen. He attended school until ninth grade at Bloomingdale Rural School, near Vermillion. He served in the Army in the Korean War from 1950-52. He was a farmer.
He married Leta Hall on Jan. 17, 1964, in Wakonda. He lived in Vermillion/Hub City area for 64 years.
He was a lifetime member of the V.F.W., Alsen Legion, Clay County Ramblers, charter member, SESD Pheasant Association. He was a member of Wakonda United Methodist Church.
Francis is survived by his wife, Leta of Vermillion; a son and daughter-in-law, Brad (Jeanie) of Vermillion; three grandchildren, Sarah Hansen, Brian Hansen and Brett Hansen; a sister, Geraldine (Bob) Clark of Vermillion; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, at United Methodist Church in Wakonda with Pastor Andy Bartel officiating. Burial was in the BluffView Cemetery with military graveside service conducted by Vermillion V.F.W. Clay Post #3061.
Visitation was 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday with a 7 p.m. prayer service at Iverson-Siecke-Kober Funeral Home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joy and Fanny Hansen, and a brother, Verle Hansen.
