Spring is here and it is time to plant gardens. Persons interested in leasing a garden plot at the Vermillion Community Gardens site, in the lot behind the VAAC building at 202 Washington St., should contact Dean Spader at 624-6831, or dspader@usd.edu for a copy of the lease.
Plots lease for $15 ($12 if VAAC member) or five work hours. Now is a good time to plant peas, spinach, carrots, Swiss chard, beets, and lettuce during the cooler temperatures.
There will also be a work day at 202 Washington on April 12 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Please join us to prepare plots, build compost piles, sign leases, prepare future educational events, and plan potlucks. All are welcome, even if you do not intend to garden a plot.
