A new business-oriented minor in legal studies at The University of South Dakota, approved Thursday, March 29 by the South Dakota Board of Regents, will help guide future business leaders as they deal with a changing legal and compliance environment.

The new legal studies in business minor, which may be added to a bachelor of business administration degree, will help students better understand contracts, corporate law, international business, commercial transactions, securities regulation and employment law.

To earn the minor, students will take 18 credit hours, including required courses in the legal environment of business, business law and commercial law and ethics or business ethics. No new state resources were requested to implement the minor, regents' officials said.
