Scholarship program announced
Farmers Union Insurance, in cooperation with the South Dakota Farmers Union Foundation, has announced a new $25,000 scholarship program.

The program which has been christened "Insuring a Brighter Tomorrow" will provide 25 $1,000 scholarships to South Dakota high school seniors who plan to continue post-secondary education at a college, university or technical school in South Dakota. It is funded with support from Farmers Union Insurance and Farmers Union Insurance agents in South Dakota.

Scholarship awards are open to policyholders of Farmers Union Insurance, members of the South Dakota Farmers Union, Friends of the South Dakota Farmers Union Foundation or participants in any South Dakota High School Activity Association (SDHSAA) activity. "Friends" of the Foundation are defined as families who have contributed $25 or more to the Foundation during the past year.


Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of academic records; volunteer activities in school and/or community and financial need. Applications are available from the South Dakota Farmers Union Foundation's Web site, www.sdfufoundation.org, school counselors or from local Farmers Union Insurance agents.

The deadline for applications is May 15. Scholarship recipients will be selected and announced on June 15.
