Special Olympics basketball team from SESDAC brings home the gold

The Special Olympics Basketball Team from SESDAC competed in the State Basketball Tournament in March and brought home the gold medal.

The team competed in a regional tournament at Yankton in February and was swept by their opponents. The team came home and prepared hard for the state tournament practicing against numerous volunteers from the community.

They traveled to Mitchell and won every game they played and brought home the first place trophy.

The SESDAC Special Olympics Team thanks all of the people who helped with this event: Volunteers from USD and the USD IDEA program, the Vermillion Middle School for the use of their gymnasium, as well as Josh Smith, Amy Doppenberg, and Mollie Youngberg who coached the team to the championship.
