S.D House of Representatives Tom Jones is announcing his candidacy for the South Dakota State House of Representatives. His name will be on the Democratic Primary Ballot on June 3. After graduating from Rapid City High School, he received his bachelorâ�?�?s degree from Huron College and a masterâ�?�?s degree from South Dakota State University. Tom taught and coached in South Dakota for six years before moving to Illinois to teach and coach in two colleges for nine years. In 1979, he and his family moved back to South Dakota. Before semi-retiring, his wife, Linda, and he owned and operated seven grocery stores in South Dakota. They also started Dakota Ace Hardware in Viborg, and are currently active in Jonesâ�?�? Food Center in Viborg and Sunny Side Plaza in Hartford. Though there are many facets of state government, education and finance are of utmost importance to him. As a successful business owner for 29 years, he has the knowledge to understand budget and finance. As a city councilman in Viborg, Tom also understands government. Being a former teacher at the high school and college level, education will always be a top priority for him. Experience will not only get the job done, it will get it done right. He has that experience and will lead Clay and Turner counties in the House of Representatives at the state capitol in Pierre.
