Carol DeBates Carol Corrine DeBates, 45, formerly of Wakonda, died Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at her residence in Bradenton Beach, FL. Funeral services were 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 28 at Faith United Lutheran Church, Volin with Pastor Velma Larson officiating. Burial was in Union Cemetery, rural Wakonda. Visitation was 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 27 at Iverson-Siecke-Kober Funeral Hoe, Vermillion. A prayer service was held at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Carol was born July 15, 1962 in Yankton to Millage Madsen and Patricia Brown. She graduated from Wakonda High School in 1979. She attended STI in the late 1980s to early 1990s. She attended Stewartâ�?�?s Beauty School in the early 1980s. She was a cook in a tavern. Carol married Dennis Gallop, then married Roger DeBates. She enjoyed fishing with Mike. She loved cooking and spending time with her grandchildren. Survivors include a daughter Michelle Gallop of Volin; a son, Austin â�?�?AJâ�? Gallop of Volin; her father, Millage Madsen of Wakonda; her fiance, Michael Nelson and his daughter, Megan Nelson, both of Bradenton Beach, FL; a sister, Holly Madsen of Volin; a brother, Martin â�?�?Martyâ�? Madsen of Wakonda; grandchildren, Drake Gallop, Bianca Kelman, Alexis Nelson; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Patricia in 2001, her maternal and paternal grandparents; a niece, Jessica French in 1995; and nephews, Bucky in 1992 and Waylon in 1996.
