Maxwell LeRoy Groves Maxwell LeRoy Groves of Charlevoix, MI died Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at Grandvue Medical Care Facility in East Jordan, MI.�? Visitation was from 6-8 p.m., Sunday, May 11 at the Winchester Funeral Home in Charlevoix. Funeral services were 12 p.m. Monday, May 12 at Greensky Hill United Methodist Church, with Reverend Timothy Wright officiating. Interment took place in Greensky Hill Cemetery.�? Max was born in Vermillion to Harold LeRoy and Ruth D. (Maxwell) Groves.�? He graduated from the University of South Dakota in Vermillion and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. On May 26, 1965 he married Gwendolyn Ann Maxfield in Charlevoix.�? They made their home in South Dakota for a short time before returning to Charlevoix.�? Max was a member of Greensky Hill Church, and always felt a true unity with Jesus in his little church on the hill. He served as a greeter, bell ringer and trustee.�? He was also a member of the Charlevoix Flying Club, served as a referee for menâ�?�?s hockey, played volleyball and became a certified scuba diver. Max is survived by his wife, Gwendolyn (Lynn) Groves of Charlevoix; daughter Vicki Ann Groves Spencer of Merced, CA; son Christian B. (Elisabeth M.) Groves of Anoka, MN; grandsons Jason E Spencer of Merced, CA, Evan P. Groves of Minneapolis, MN, Caleb B. Groves of Anoka; brother Gary Groves of Vermillion; sister Judy (Fred) Steece of Rapid City; four nieces and three nephews.�? Maxâ�?�?s son, Maxwell Van Groves and sister-in-law Jean Groves preceded him in death.�? Memorials may be sent to Greensky Hill United Methodist Church in Charlevoix.
