Noteworthy Performers Saub, Good will share talents here By: David Lias By David Lias Plain Talk Scott Horowitz is hoping that people from the Vermillion area take advantage of a unique experience to hear the live performances of two up-and-coming musical performers. Horowitz, president of the management firm All Night Entertainment, finds himself in the enviable position of managing the careers of Sioux Falls heart throb Pete Good and Omaha, NE music sensation Chris Saub. ?When you are managing new artists, you look for any opportunity, Horowitz, a former Vermillion man who is putting his experience as a former west coast music producer to good use here in South Dakota. Saub will perform on South Dakota Public Television?s No Cover No Minimum at 8 p.m. May 9 in the SDPB television studio in the Al Neuharth Media Center on The University of South Dakota campus. Pete Good is scheduled to appear on the program May 16. The programs are taped for broadcast on South Dakota Public Television, in front of a live audience. ?Both artists play regionally, Horowitz said. ?Both artists have bands, but for this show, Chris will be solo on guitar and keyboard, and Pete will have some backup musicians. Both artists will perform all original material. Good has recently released his first CD; Staub has produced six CDs. Horowitz is hoping to better the career of both artists. He is particularly happy with the artistic progress Good has experienced. ?We?ve gotten a lot of terrific publicity, and we?ve gotten bigger shows and helped his career grow, Horowitz said. Horowitz, who has worked with Good for approximately 16 months, booked the musician to perform at the Omaha Ribfest last year. That?s where he saw and heard Saub live on stage. ?I contacted him, and signed him to a personal management contract last August, Horowitz said. ?I and a partner are ?shopping? Pete to major labors and publishers in both Los Angeles and New York to a very good response, he said. ?And with Chris, we?re in the preparation stages of doing the same thing. That ?shopping experience will only be enhanced by Saub?s and Good?s upcoming performances on No Cover No Minimum. ?You get a copy of the raw footage (of the program) that you can copy or use as is, and I?m hoping that it will turn out great, Horowitz said. ?This will be the record companies? opportunity to see the artists perform. People planning to hear the two artists live at their No Cover No Minimum performances should arrive in the studio about 15 minutes before the scheduled 8 a.m. performances. ?Smooth, artistic, unique, well crafted are just a few of the labels that reviewers use to describe Good. Saub, known as ?the hardest working man in Omaha, was voted #1 Artist in Omaha by MTV 2?s ?On the Rise campaign in the spring of 2007. In the spring of 2005 Saub was a regional finalist on CBS?s Rockstar INXS TV show. He earned two nominations as Best Singer Songwriter and Best Adult Alternative Artist for the Omaha Entertainment Awards in 2006 and 2007.
