Waters,Merrigan are honored students

Waters,Merrigan are honored students First Bank & Trust is pleased to announce Jessa Waters and Jordan Merrigan as Februaryâ�?�?s Students of the Month. Both students will receive $100 scholarships to reward their excellence. Watersâ�?�? sponsor expressed how much Vermillion High School benefits from her â�?�?enthusiasm and dedication.â�? Additionally, she has been an invaluable teaching assistant for VHSâ�?�?s yearbook staff. Next year, Waters will attend USD as a broadcast journalism major with her sights set on becoming a news broadcaster. Along with serving as editor of the yearbook, Waters has maintained an outstanding academic record and is involved in theatre, oral interp, choir, National Honors Society, and also assists as a peer tutor. During her four years at VHS, she has been awarded as an Outstanding Actor, Superior Performer, All-State All Around Journalist, and served as the Thespian Society president. Merrigan was chosen for his academic accomplishments and for being active in numerous extracurricular organizations. He was noted by his faculty sponsor for creatively engaging his fellow classmates during lectures and for always arriving to class with his homework completed. Next year, Merrigan will attend the University of Minnesota at Mankato in order to study information technology. Merrigan has lettered in football and basketball. He is also a member of the Show Choir Pit Band, National Honors Society, and Student Council. Additionally, he is involved with the Wildfire Church Contemporary Group and the St. Agnes Youth Group. First Bank & Trust congratulates Jessa Waters and Jordan Merrigan as Students of the Month for February, 2008 and wish them the best of luck in the future.
