Check it Out Go BUGGY & Catch the Reading Bug at VPL By Anne Marshall
Vermillion Public Library The Bees are coming to the library on Monday, June 16. The program starts at 1:30 p.m. in the Community Room of the library. Learn all about the bees with Van�??s Apiary for Beginners. Buggy Arts & Crafts are offered on Tuesday, June 10 starting at 1:30 p.m. Children under five years old must be accompanied by an adult. The video The Ant Bully will play on Wednesday, June 11 beginning at 1:30 p.m. This film runs for 88 minutes and is rated �??PG�?�. The Book Beetles Reading Club starts on Thursday, June 12 at 1:30 p.m. This group is age appropriate for first and second grade students. There will be a book discussions and �??read-out-louds�?� as a group. Reading out loud is encouraged but not required. No registration is necessary for this program. The Reading Arachnids Club, for third through fifth graders starts on Thursday, June 12 at 3 p.m. Registration is required and space is limited. Please call ahead to see if there is an opening at 677-7060. Arthropod Adventures is a program for children going on vacation. Participants may check out an insect buddy to take with them on their trip. The stuffed insect includes a special postcard the child may mail back to the library to tell us about their adventure. The insects will also be available for �??adoption�?� at the Closing Party in July. Library Announcements The VPL Classic Film Festival will be held on Thursday nights in July. The movies will be shown in the Community Room of the library with no cost and free popcorn. The films scheduled will be Some Like It Hot, Breakfast at Tiffany�??s, Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid, and Singing in the Rain. Free Adult Internet Classes are scheduled for June and July. Introduction to the Internet will be taught on Thursday, June 19 from 9-11 a.m. or in the evening from 6-8 p.m. This class is designed for those unfamiliar with the Internet. An Introduction to E-Mail will be taught on Thursday, June 26th, also with a morning and evening session. Participants will learn how to set up an E-Mial account and communicate via E-Mail. The third class, Introduction to EBay, Facebook, and YouTube, is scheduled for Thursday, July 3 in the morning and evening. This class will familiarize participants with social and commercial networks. Please pre-register for these sessions as space is limited. For more information call the library at 677-7060. The library will be closed on Sundays starting with Memorial Day weekend and running through Labor Day weekend. Monday through Thursday hours are still from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. The library closes on Fridays at 6 p.m. and Saturdays at 5 p.m. Book Club The Book Club offers many selections to Internet patrons. Each book runs for five days, Monday through Friday. Some genres offer selections every other week.
