Lavin named Preceptor of the Year

Lavin named Preceptor of the Year Matt Lavin, RhP, Pharmacy Manager at Sanford Vermillion Medical Center was named Preceptor of the Year by the South Dakota State University College of Pharmacy earlier this year. Students on rotation have consistently given very high evaluations of their experience under Lavinâ�?�?s supervision. â�?�?Our students have benefited from very strong learning experiences at your pharmacy,â�? wrote Bernie Hendricks, Experiential Coordinator, SDSU College of Pharmacy in the award letter received by Lavin. Some remarks made by students completing recent rotations in Vermillion include, â�?�?Matt is very open for communication. The atmosphere he has created allows for a great learning environment . . . definitely considering hospital pharmacy now.â�? And, â�?�?Great communicator . . . understands internâ�?�?s roles/has lots of experience with students . . . thoroughly teaches/explains/questions . . . I would never have before thought Iâ�?�?d even consider hospital pharmacy. Now, Iâ�?�?m almost considering a residency!â�? â�?�?The College is most grateful; also, for all the students that Lavin is willing to precept each year. Lavin has been employed at Sanford Vermillion since November 2000. Matt has served in the preceptor role for the SDSU College of Pharmacy for over ten years.
