Local 3-A-Day dairy promotion planned

Local 3-A-Day dairy promotion planned Now that summer is here it?s more important than ever to keep bones strong and healthy with three servings of dairy each day. The Jolly J.J.?s 4-H club and the Midwest Dairy Association are promoting 3-A-Day dairy products in Vermillion. The Jolly J.J.?s will have club members appear in local grocery stores, Hy-Vee and Jones? Food Center, looking for a shopper at each store who has at least one product from each of the 3-A-Day dairy products in their shopping cart. The 3-A-Day Dairy products consist of milk, cheese and yogurt. Jolly J.J.?s 4-H club members will be in the grocery stores at an undisclosed time on Saturday, June 14. Once they find a shopper, one at each store, who has at least one item of milk, at least one item of cheese and at least one item of yogurt, they will then award that shopper for choosing a product from each of the 3-A-Day dairy products by paying for all their dairy products in their shopping cart. Since June is Dairy Month, it is the perfect time to celebrate dairy?s delicious health benefits. Milk, cheese and yogurt are excellent sources of protein, with a serving of milk or yogurt providing at least 20 percent of the daily value for protein. Try white and flavored milks like chocolate, yogurt with fruit and a variety of cheeses, such as Swiss, cheddar and colby jack. The power of dairy food to deliver the nutrients needed to stay fit can be found in low-fat or fat-free dairy products. Cutting calories and increasing exercise are important components to achieving a healthy weight. No matter what your health priorities are, you can enjoy the great taste of dairy. Keep the celebration going all month long with delicious dairy.
