Manning honored as Vermillion Teacher of the Year Austin Elementary teacher Anne Manning is presented the teacher of the year award by Vermillion School Board President Mark Bottolfson during Vermillion High School's commencement exercises May 25 in Slagle Auditorium on The University of South Dakota campus. Manning has taught in kindergarten, first, and second grades at Austin School. While at Austin School, she participated in the Professional Development Center program and earned her reading specialist degree from USD. She has been instrumental in the "Guided Reading" project initiated by the Department of Education. Manning's leadership role in reading is always present as she offers guidance, assistance, and support to her fellow teachers. She has been an active member in the district instructional council. Her dedication to her students and her continued pursuit of her own education has allowed her to become an excellent teacher for the Vermillion School District. She also received her bachelor��?s degree and master��?s degree from the University of South Dakota. She and her husband Dan reside in Vermillion. They have three grown children and three grandchildren.
