Vermillion airport receives FAA grant Sen. John Thune announced that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has awarded a grant of $1.87 million to the city of Vermillion. The funds will be used to rehabilitate the runway at Harold Davidson Field. ?Harold Davidson Field is an important facility for southeastern South Dakota, said Thune. ?These repairs will help keep it safe for both passengers and pilots. Each year, these funds are distributed to airports, ranging from the large commercial airports to smaller general aviation airports, to assist with construction or other eligible improvements. Sen. Thune serves on the Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee, which has primary jurisdiction over our nation?s aviation system ? including the funding allocated to airports across the country via the Aviation Trust Fund.?
