Damon garners writing awards Paula Damon, director of marketing and communications at Briar Cliff University, garnered two second place awards and one third-place award in the 2008 South Dakota Press Women Communications Contest. Winning entries in the competition were selected from Damon��?s weekly column, ��?My Story Your Story.� Judges evaluated her work in three categories: informational, general and humorous. Taking Second Place in the lnformational category were Damon��?s entries entitled ��?Junk mail interrupts isolation, announces existence� and ��?Learning to play the piano presents a new brand of happiness.� In the general category, her works ��?Side effects of membership to the club� and ��?On being backwards compatible ��? a love story� also earned Second Place.
