Damon garners writing awards Paula Damon, director of marketing and communications at Briar Cliff Univer-sity, garnered two second place awards and one third-place award in the 2008 South Dakota Press Women Communica-tions Contest. Winning entries in the competition were selected from Damonâ�?�?s weekly column, â�?�?My Story Your Story.â�? Judges evaluated her work in three categories: informational, general and humorous. Taking second place in the informational category were Damonâ�?�?s entries entitled â�?�?Junk mail interrupts isolation, an-nounces existenceâ�? and â�?�?Learning to play the piano presents a new brand of happiness.â�? In the general category, her works â�?�?Side effects of membership to the clubâ�? and â�?�?On being backwards compatible â�?�? a love storyâ�? also earned second place.
